According to Prof. Zhi Xiuyi, the highlights of the new Principles are:
  • Multiple specialties integrated into the lung cancer patient care;
  • More comprehensive coverage not only includes minimal wound thoracic surgery, target chemotherapy, and precision radiotherapy, but also lung cancer genetic subtypes, blood tumor markers, smoking cessation and screening;
  • Recommendation for low dosage spiral CT used for screening in high risk people;
  • Q & A section based on evidence-medicine.
These guidelines are largely in accordance with American National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) guidelines on lung cancer management, with certain adaptations to Chinese lung cancer patients and status quo of China.
