New China Annual Cancer Statistics (2011) published
--Second hand smoke may contribute high lung cancer rate in
Chinese women
“Annual report on status of cancer in China, 2011” was
published In the latest issue of Chinese Journal of Cancer Research,Feb. 2015.
Compared to the last year's
report and to the new World Cancer Report data, Stomach, liver, and esophageal cancers
are still more common in China, and the incidences of lung, breast and colon-rectal
cancers are increasing.
It is strikingly to see
that lung cancer is the second most common cancer in Chinese women, both in urban and rural areas. Since cigarette
smoking rate is still relatively low, so second hand smoking, air pollution and others possibly certain roles.
Table 6 Top 10 cancer incidence in China, 2011
Table 6 Top 10 cancer incidence in China, 2011
There were 6.4% and 5.4% annual increases of cancer incidence
rate and mortality, although after adjusted by age, the incidence and mortality
were kept stable, the article stated.
Total 234
registries reported In 2014, compared to 219 in 2013, and 193 in 2010, covers 16.4% of national populations. The
number of registries has been increased to 308 at the end of 2014. And we can
safely bet that the registries in China will have a burst growth since the
"NHFPC Called for the Establishment of National Cancer Registration and Management System", the next year's annual data will be able to cover much larger population in China.
